Your advantages with the willbe Fixed Deposit
Unlike other forms of investment, a fixed deposit offers fixed interest rates that are guaranteed for the agreed term of the investment. This means that investors know exactly in advance the return they will get at the end of the term.
A fixed deposit offers a high degree of security, as the invested capital is protected by EAS Liechtenstein up to an amount of 100'000 Swiss francs or the equivalent per person.
Fixed deposits offer flexible terms ranging from a few months to several years. With willbe, you can open as many fixed deposit accounts as you want, with a variety of terms ranging from one month up to 10 years. The initial deposit can range from 100 Swiss francs, euros, US dollars or one of six other European currencies up to a maximum amount of CHF 250,000 or the equivalent in one of the offered currencies. This allows you to work towards your savings goals in a targeted manner.
Since fixed deposits are not traded on the financial markets, they are not subject to the same kind of volatility over the agreed term that may be experienced, for example, with shares or bonds. This makes fixed deposits a stable way to invest, particularly in economically unstable times.
A fixed deposit is simple and comprehensible. You invest a certain amount for a predefined term with a fixed interest rate. There are no hidden fees. We will consider early contract withdrawals on a case-by-case basis, and reserve the right to charge a handling fee of 2 % and retain any accrued interest.
Fixed deposits generally offer higher interest rates than traditional savings accounts. If you are not sure how for long you would like to invest your money, the willbe cash account is a good option.
Provided you comply with the contract, we do not charge any administration fees for your fixed deposit. This means that you receive the full amount of interest income, without it being reduced by additional costs.
Start with a cash account or fixed deposit, and invest in gold or sustainable investments later. All conveniently and affordably in the willbe app.
Frequently asked questions
-
Your fixed deposit will be repaid automatically at the end of the term. The full amount you invested, plus any outstanding interest, will be paid directly into your cash account. You don’t need to do a thing.
You will then be able to access your balance instantly for further use, such as for setting up another fixed deposit.
-
- For terms of less than 1 year: the interest is only paid at the end of the term.
- For terms of 1 year or longer: the interest is paid once a year.
-
Fixed deposit terms of less than 1 year
- The interest is calculated at the end of the term and automatically credited to your willbe cash account.
- It is not possible for the interest to be paid out early.
Fixed deposit terms of 1 year or more (e.g. 7 years)
- The interest is calculated annually on the date on which you opened your fixed deposit account.
- Process for the annual interest payment:
1. First, the interest is credited to the fixed deposit.
2. It will then be automatically transferred to your willbe cash account. - This means that the interest is made available to you each year, without you having to actively do anything.
-
For terms of one year or more, you’ll receive the interest on the annual anniversary – i.e. exactly one year after the opening of your fixed deposit – and then on the same date each year. In other words, you won’t receive your interest at the end of the calendar year.
-
The interest is not reinvested: it is paid out. It is first credited to your fixed deposit and then transferred directly to your willbe cash account. You don’t have to do a thing – you will be able to access the interest in your cash account instantly.
-
A fixed deposit is always a single investment. You will not be able to add any further amounts to this fixed deposit after you have opened the account. This ensures you get the latest interest rate when you open the account.
-
Your fixed deposit is taken out at a fixed interest rate for the entire term. This interest rate is guaranteed and does not change, regardless of how rates develop down the line. Changes to the interest table have no impact on your pre-existing fixed deposits. If interest rates change for the better, you can take out as many additional fixed deposits as you like at any time.
-
There are no costs associated with opening or managing your fixed deposit. Interest payments and repayment at maturity are also free of charge.
